30-Year Broadcast Industry Veteran Brings Extensive Business and Engineering Acumen to the Company
SALT LAKE CITY — Jan. 31, 2023 — Utah Scientific, a world leader in providing mission-critical equipment to content creators, distributors, and broadcasters, today announced that Mark Playdon has been appointed as the company’s western regional sales manager (RSM). Based in Phoenix, Arizona, Playdon will oversee sales and customer management in the Western U.S. and Canada, regularly visiting potential and existing customers throughout the region to assess their needs and provide product and system recommendations.
“Mark’s engineering roots and industry experience afford him a deep comprehension of television and M&E systems,” said Barry Singer, vice president of sales, Utah Scientific. “His previous tenure managing the Western U.S. broadcast market, as well as the channel, is perfect for this role. A military veteran and a successful entrepreneur, Mark will be an asset to the continued growth here at Utah Scientific.”
Playdon’s attention to detail on both the engineering and business sides of the broadcast industry make him a perfect fit for the RSM position. After serving in the British Royal Air Force, Playdon started his career in 1993 as a systems design and installation engineer for FOR-A. Before joining Utah Scientific, he worked for the JVCKenwood Corporation as director of broadcast sales for the Western U.S. region, where he managed all direct account sales west of the Mississippi at each broadcast group’s executive and station levels.
