NAB 2018: ASG and NetApp ‘Lunch & Learn’ Program Explores Emerging All-Flash Storage Technologies

Two emerging all-flash technologies, nonvolatile memory express (NVMe) and storage-class memory (SCM), promise dramatic improvements in performance for storage arrays. During the 2018 NAB Show, Advanced Systems Group (ASG) and NetApp will present “Flash Forward,” a free Lunch & Learn program, on Tuesday, April 10, at 12:30 p.m. in the South Lower Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, Meeting Room S101LMR.

Dave Van Hoy, president of ASG, a leading media technology and engineering firm, will join Jeff Baxter, NetApp’s chief evangelist for the ONTAP storage operating system, to discuss how NVMe and SCM are reshaping the storage industry. The first session will provide an overview of both technologies and explain how NetApp, one of the world’s leading companies for data management and enterprise storage solutions, is currently using them. The second session begins at 1:30 p.m. and will provide a “deep dive” into the benefits of NVMe and SCM beyond simple speeds and feeds, plus share NetApp’s vision for future deployments. Lunch will be provided during the first session.

“All-flash storage arrays based on NAND technology already provide excellent shared storage, but in the near future, NVMe and SCM could radically change storage architectures for media environments,” explained Van Hoy. “Our ‘Flash Forward’ event at NAB is a great opportunity to take a break from the show floor and learn how you can take advantage of these powerful storage technologies.”

“Flash Forward” is a free program, but registration is required and space is limited. Please visit www.asgllc.com for online registration and more information.
