Music Producer Masato Suzuki Installs GENELEC 8050A

Masato Suzuki, Japanese Music Producer, has installed a pair of Genelec 8050A 2-way monitor speakers in his studio in Tokyo. Suzuki works with many famous artists in the Japanese Hip-Hop/R&B scene including Muro, DJ Hazime, Misia, Namie Amuro and Daichi Miura, as well as artists outside Japan such as Kat DeLuna and Ahmir.

Equipped with high-end outboard gears, turntables, and vintage rhythm machines, the studio is where Suzuki produces all of his music, including composing, track making, recording, mixing, and mastering. The Genelec 8050A satisfies his need for near-field application and for main monitors in a project studio.

“The Genelec’s clean bass provides a clearer perspective that enables me to control low frequencies with ease.” says Suzuki. “Since mid-low registers are very important in Hip-Hop, R&B, and dance music, this helps me a lot. Furthermore, Genelec speakers have a flat frequency response and are true to original sounds. This is very useful in the mastering process and everything flows more smoothly. Before installing the Genelecs I frequently worked with headphones. But now I have 8050A, I am increasingly using the speakers in mastering too.”

Modern styles of dance, Hip-Hop and R&B music require speakers that can withstand a new range of sound, yet won’t compromise on quality. The Genelec 8050A has become the new standard of speaker for Suzuki as well as becoming a reference point in all the music he produces.

Suzuki auditioned several speakers from other manufacturers before choosing the 8050A but found that speakers from other brands had their own sound characteristics. Many Genelec users speak highly of being able to work without the interference of speaker specific sounds and Suzuki wanted the same thing from his new monitor speaker. Genelec’s product design policy aims for ultimately neutral sounds, meaning that the sound quality will not be compromised or differ from the original sound, no matter where it is played.

Genelec will be exhibiting at the upcoming IBC2013, September 12 – 17, RAI Amsterdam. Drop by the Genelec stand # 8.D61.
