Glastonbury 2013 Highlight: Panasonic Projectors Take Part in Arcardia Spectacular

Panasonic took part in a special way at the 2013 Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts, a performing arts festival that takes place near Pilton, Somerset, England. Best known for its contemporary music, but also for dance, comedy, theatre, circus, cabaret and other arts, the festival is held over three to four days in open air and is the largest greenfield festival in the world, attended by around 175,000 people yearly. Glastonbury 2013 was held from 26th-30th of June 2013.

How Did Panasonic Take Part in Glastonbury 2013?

A highlight of the Glastonbury festival known as the ‘Arcadia Spectacular’, the late night experience featured a giant mechanical spider as the centrepiece for an audio visual experience inclusive of explosive pyrotechnics, high definition projection mapping and stunning choreography set to a soundtrack from some of the UK’s finest bass DJs including Andy C, Fatboy Slim, Ratpack, Plump DJs and more. While Immersive Ltd and Video Illusions Ltd were the AV experts responsible for the jaw dropping video aspects of the Arcadia Spectacular witnessed by the thousands that attended and many thousands more that viewed live broadcasts of Glastonbury 2013’s Arcadia stage, Panasonic helped bring the show to life by providing six of its finest 20,000 lumen DLP projectors which were located in three areas to beam vibrant coloured textures, geometrically mapped images and excitement building info such as a countdown onto the legs of the nearly 10 meter high spider.

The results?

Truly phenomenal, with the spider ignited in a scene of animated colour and illusion. Check out the video for the projection and stage in motion.

All of the video content on the project was designed and animated by motion graphic design company blinkinLAB.
