Take a peek inside the world of a man and his wife, who have stopped speaking entirely. The pair artfully attempts to murder one another in a dark comedy that explores the ups and downs of their relationship, with complete disregard to their daughter, who has sinister plans of her own.
The film, titled “Black Wedding” is currently in production and set to preview at the Snowdance International Film Festival in January 2015. Its award-winning creators, Frank Glencairn and Thomas “Tom” Bohn, are choosing to shoot entirely with Blackmagic Cinema Cameras. Their goal is to show that ground-breaking films, and the professional equipment they require, can still be affordable. DIGISTOR’s Professional Video Series SSDs are the only storage drives on set since they’re tried and tested to work with Blackmagic Cinema Camera.
Starring Beate Maes, Diego Wallraff, Mersiha Husagic, and Timur Karak, the filmmakers brought together international talent while keeping a minimal budget. With the purpose of creating an independent film worthy of the international spotlight, Frank and Tom stepped away from the awe of post-processing to instead engage their audience by artfully toying with relatable, entertaining subject matter and not shying away from original ideas. The decision was made to use only Frank Glencairn’s choice equipment: the Blackmagic Cinema Camera, and along with it DIGISTOR’s certified SSD for storage, for uncompressed images and the security of a perfect fit.
Frank writes about the choice in his blog, where he speaks about his reasons for the decision, to shoot an entire feature-length film using Blackmagic:
“I could have had a Dragon, Leica lenses and all the lights I want – so it was definitely not a budget thing. Though I opted for BMCs, Samyang and Dedolights. I must be out of my mind – right? No, I did what any responsible DP should do, choosing the right tool for the job. Besides that, I wanted to know if it is possible, to use more affordable tools in a full blown feature film.”
Since choosing to use only Blackmagic cameras for “Black Wedding”, Frank Glencairn also stuck with storing all 160 reels on 10 DIGISTOR Professional Video SSDs. “We prefer Digistor SSDs because they’re custom made for cameras, not computers, and they play super nice with the Blackmagic Cinema camera,” says Frank.
Audiences will have a chance to explore the multiple layers of disdain Black Wedding’s couple has for each other, and the ways they attempt to express it, come January, during a tour of festivals the film is making post it’s big reveal at Snowdance. Alternatively, it will appear in German theaters come late 2015.
