Triveni Digital Brings Insights on Localized NextGen TV Content to IEEE BTS PULSE

PRINCETON, N.J. — Feb. 2, 2021 — Triveni Digital today announced that the company’s senior vice president of emergent technology development, Mark Corl, will present on how single-frequency networks (SFNs) are empowering ATSC 3.0 broadcasters at the IEEE BTS PULSE virtual conference. His session, “Extending ATSC 3.0 SFN Functionality Through Transmitter-Site Stream Multiplexing,” will explore the applications and the benefits of transmitting targeted NextGen TV content from multiple transmitters in the network. The session takes place on Tuesday, Feb. 9, from 10:25 to 10:50 a.m. EST.

“In the ATSC 3.0 environment, SFNs can help broadcasters expand their coverage area and deliver more advanced, interactive services,” said Corl. “At the IEEE BTS PULSE event, I’ll highlight the advantages of providing multiple secure, targeted streams that can be combined at the transmitter using various techniques defined in the ATSC 3.0 standards. Some of the applications that will be analyzed include emergency alerts and localized content, which are especially relevant as local news consumption is surging.”

Corl will examine how broadcasters can implement a statewide network that has different stations in different cities, operating either single-transmitter or SFN operations. In addition, attendees will learn how they can deliver streams carrying localized station IDs, emergency alerts and rich media content, weather reports, and other localized content to individual broadcast markets while retaining the distribution efficiency of an SFN. With more than 20 years of experience and extensive contributions in product engineering and architecture, Corl has an unparalleled knowledge about ATSC 3.0 that he will bring to the discussion of this important industry topic.

IEEE BTS PULSE is a three-day virtual event where experts have an opportunity to answer vital questions about technologies currently challenging the broadcast industry. More information about the presentation and the event is available at https://bts.ieee.org/pulse/technical-program.html.
