Showtech 2013: ARRI in the spotlight

ARRI-2

Showtech 2013, which ran for three days between June 18th and 21st at the Berlin Exhibition Center, gave the ARRI lighting team an opportunity to showcase its latest offerings for professional film, broadcast and event lighting.

The ARRI booth, which was crowded with visitors throughout this 16th International Trade Show and Conference for Theatre, Film and Event, was separated into different areas. In one area visitors interested in lighting could learn about the company’s latest products and system solutions, while in a fully functioning studio area they could experiment with different lighting setups for the ballerina dancing live on the ARRI stage, and capture the results with an ALEXA camera. If that got too tiring, they could relax on a sofa and discuss possible lighting applications with the ARRI experts.

Of particular interest to attendees was the recently introduced ARRI M90, a powerful and yet compact HMI fixture that utilizes the patented MAX Technology first developed for the ubiquitous ARRIMAX. Also receiving a lot of attention was the new LED Fresnel fixture in ARRI’s L-Series, the L7-TT. A tungsten model that is tunable between 2600 K and 3600 K, the L7-TT is more than 20% brighter than the already well-known L7-C, while maintaining the L7-C’s size, weight, calibrated color quality and adjustable green-magenta point. In addition, ARRI presented new active cooling versions of all L-Series models. The active cooling option reduces size and weight, and is ideal for location shoots, portable lighting kits, events and studios.

For those interested in emerging technologies, ARRI gave a presentation on ‘Digital Imaging with LEDs’ at the Showtech Congress Forum.

ARRI was pleased to welcome not only lighting professionals to the booth, but also students from many different media and film schools. Their enthusiasm for the ARRI products and their interest in getting hands-on experience with the fixtures in the studio area bodes well for the future. Many thanks to everyone who visited us at the show — we hope to see you again in September at IBC.
