Multi-View HD Pro 2 Tutorial on Real-time Switching & Editing

30 September 2024–Laguna Niguel, California. Multi-channel video pioneer, FutureVideo Products, Inc., announced today that its Multi-View HD Pro 2 Multicam Player/Logger/Editor PC Software now makes it possible to do real-time switching and editing–“Multicam RTE”–between videos captured on GoPro HERO cameras. It’s as though the shoot was being switched live–except that it’s being done during playback–and can be edited in real-time. Multicam RTE enables the creation of rough-cut videos from up to 8 camera views using the metadata timecode from affordable GoPro HERO12 and new HERO13 cameras for multiple-angle video synchronization.

Multi-View HD Pro 2 was designed to organize, review, and display up to 8 videos–synchronously–on either one screen or on multiple monitors. It may be displayed in multiple split screens, Picture-in-Picture, or single switched screen. Advanced SQL database technology is used for project and media management. It supports H.264 (AVC) and H.265 (HEVC) codecs and AVI, MOV, and MP4 file container types.

FutureVideo engineers evolved Multi-View HD Pro 2 to read GoPro timecode embedded in the video file’s metadata, utilize the proxy files, and merge GoPro video file chapters into a single video. The software also creates sub-clips from the video in batch fashion. Users can quickly log notes and perform quick-cut edits without needing to wait for rendering to occur. Videos can be uploaded to YouTube or two selectable FTP sites with its built-in uploader software.

Multi-View HD excels in two broad applications:

FOR PRODUCTION, independent and student filmmakers and film schools can now use multiple GoPro HERO12 and 13 with Multi-View HD 2 in a range of pre-visualization tasks–lighting, makeup, wardrobe, camera movement, rehearsals, and for testing effects shots. All can be done instantly after importing the videos into Multi-View HD Pro 2.

FOR EVALUATION, trainers, educators, and researchers who need to study and analyze a behavior, performance, or process from multiple angles can easily use Multi-View HD Pro 2 for their projects. Users need not be trained in video editing because the software UI is designed to act as a virtual real-time video system. This makes creating timelines and multicam clips unnecessary in order to review and create videos.

According to FutureVideo’s Director of Business Development, Stephen Godfrey, “Our Multi-View HD Pro 2 software plus GoPro HERO 12 and 13 cameras are an ideal match. The workflow is so efficient that once clips have been imported, they can be instantly displayed and played back in complete synchronization–as if viewing the live shoot. Multi-View HD Pro 2’s new Multicam Real-time Switching and Editing (RTE) makes it easier than ever to create a rough-cut video immediately after the shoot. Time isn’t wasted waiting for proxies to be created or for rendering. Users can mark points of interest in up to eight video clips or angles and log notes about them. Clips can be cropped, zoomed, repositioned, and synchronously played back frame-by-frame and in slow-motion. All this makes Multi-View HD Pro 2 an exceptional, easy-to-use, analytical platform.”

For timecode synchronization, both HERO12 and HERO13 are directly compatible. HERO7 – HERO11 models can also be used by upgrading to GoPro Labs’ advanced firmware. PCs with Intel Quad-core (i5-i7) @2.6 Ghz and Widnows 7/10/11 64 bit, 8-16GB RAM (or better) are suitable for use with Multi-View HD Pro 2.
