Lt. Gen Tom Sheridan (Ret) to Keynote SATCON

Former Commander of U.S. Air Force Space and Missile Center to share insight gained from 35 years of government and military experience

Lt Gen Tom Sheridan

Tom Sheridan, retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant General – now serving as vice president, National Security Space, Vencore, Inc. – will deliver the keynote address at the 2014 Satellite Communications Conference and Expo (SATCON), held November 12-13 in New York. CCW+SATCON, produced by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), is the largest media, entertainment, video and communications technology conference and exposition on the East Coast.

Sheridan has 35 years of government and military experience in space-related acquisitions, operations and requirements development. While in government service, he managed a $10 billion annual budget in his dual role as Commander of the Space and Missile Systems Center and Air Force Program Executive Officer for Space. He oversaw the research, design, development, acquisition, launch and sustainment of the Air Force’s space and launch systems. As Deputy Director of the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), he designed, developed and delivered space systems to support national security. As the Air Force Space Command’s Director of Requirements, Sheridan led the team that developed requirements for all Air Force space and missile systems.

“Tom Sheridan has earned the respect of the satellite industry for his extensive work on a variety of high profile systems that support national security,” said Chris Brown, executive vice president, Conventions and Business Operations at NAB. “We are fortunate to have him kick off this year’s SATCON and share his experience and knowledge with attendees.”

Sheridan retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Lieutenant General after earning the Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal and the Legion of Merit. He now oversees the strategy and deployment of Vencore’s systems engineering and integration services for the Intelligence Community, the military and NASA in support of national security objectives. His team of skilled systems engineers helps customers integrate cost-efficient systems and build state-of-the-art systems.

He is an associate fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and serves on its Executive Committee for Space Conferences.
