Kanal 10 puts its faith in nxtedition

Swedish broadcaster puts nxtedition automation in the driving seat for future expansion

Kristen TV i Sverige AB (Kanal 10) has deployed broadcast microservices nxtedition’s solution as part of its efforts to ensure it has a futureproof and scalable workflow to support its next phase of growth. The Christian television channel delivers a mix of feature films, news, children’s programming, debates and live church and prayer services – primarily in Swedish, but with some English content that is subtitled. This investment in nxtedition will allow the broadcaster to handle more content, without increasing its headcount, and engage with its audience across multiple platforms.

Broadcasting since 2005, Kanal 10 has been growing steadily ever since in both audience numbers and the amount of content being delivered. In addition to satellite TV (Sirius Satellite), its content is available as an optional channel via Comhem and Telia as well as via its dedicated web TV offering.

nxtedition’s production automation and asset management platform is built from a suite of microservices allowing the system to be highly configured to the specific needs of individual broadcasters. It is also easy to maintain and use, and extremely cost-effective. One of the strengths of the nxtedition platform is the speed with which video clips can be delivered to social media and the Kanal 10 production team now has the option to ingest footage, define in and out points and publish content to its social channels with a single click.

Joakim Claesson, CEO at Kanal 10 commented, “We saw just how straightforward it is to create and deliver high-quality content to any platform – whether digital, terrestrial, streaming or social media. This combined with the impressive price/ performance ratio and the easy-to-use interface made nxtedition the clear choice for us. The team there has provided excellent support and really listened to our needs to make sure we got the system that was right for our needs, now and in the future.”

With its story-centric approach, nxtedition encompasses pre-production planning, ingest, media management, script writing, graphics, prompting, live studio automation, streaming in/out and social media management. Everything is elegantly controlled from within a single user interface.

Robert Nagy, CTO, nxtedition added, “As a company, we have taken an unconventional approach, removing the need for complete and inefficient workflows and infrastructure, that keeps great storytelling at its heart. At nxtedition we have thrown out the old rulebook and given journalists the ability to take full control of their stories without relying on specialist staff to operate systems. We are empowering broadcasters to meet the challenges that come with such a dynamically shifting market but ensuring that they never have to compromise on their ability to create the best content and this approach increasingly speaks to the needs of our customers as they take on the challenges of our dynamically shifting market.”
