Videographer Kenneth Boyd Invests in 4K AG-UX180 for Corporate/Event Production

Dallas,TX area videographer Kenneth Boyd recently wrapped up a busy college graduation production season that he fielded with the Panasonic AG-UX180 4K camcorder, the main camera of his company, I-DEE Production.

Since taking delivery of the UX180 early this year, Boyd has used the camcorder on wide-ranging assignments including producing interviews and promos throughout a two-day conference for London-based company Juliet Media; covering a Sports International football camp with high school athletic coaches; shooting promotions for Outlaw Bootcamp, a local exercise facility; and documenting dozens of theatrical and academic events at K-12 and college-level schools.

Boyd said he conducted a competitive evaluation of camera options, and chose the UX180 based on its low-light performance, 20X optical zoom lens, 4K /HD acquisition and low-cost SDXC media.

“I shoot with the UX180 day in, day out, and its lightweight just doesn’t wear you out,” Boyd said. “I love the lens length, the convenience of the split audio channels, the ability to change the color inside the camera and, especially, being able to bring up the menu screen for adjustments even while recording.”

Boyd said he shoots in 4K or 1080p (often deploying the UX180 as the “A” camera on multi-cam shoots) depending on the assignment, and edits on a variety of NLE platforms—Final Cut Pro X, Premiere Pro CC and DaVinci Resolve.
