The world has become a more mobile, social and video-centric place, causing leaders to take a fresh look at their government and enterprise communication and workplace learning requirements. Video provides the most compelling content for meaningful consumption and best drives engagement, collaboration and interaction. Video is used to communicate, inform and educate. Video increases touch points with internal and external audiences, improves the effectiveness and value of training and performance support, and enhances personal experience. This session will provide insight about how organizations are using enterprise video and interactive distance learning to impact results.

Training and Education within the Workplace of the Future — Today!

This exciting and interactive presentation will examine Unified Collaborative Communications (UCC) trends, technology, mobility, security, connectivity and best practices. A “live” video collaboration link with New York City will provide a demonstration of high-quality on-the-go mobility solutions featuring the new facial recognition with analytics automated camera. Best practices will focus on the Defense Education & Training Network (DETN), North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and United Nations (UN) applications and successes.

The Defense Education & Training Network — An Interactive, Satellite-Based HDTV Network Used for Distance Learning

Dr. Philip Westfall, Dept. of the Air Force, Director, DETN

This presentation will examine the technology, process for success, and results of the DETN. DETN is expanding support of the Medical Interservice Satellite Training (MIST), a program that will soon reach every medical DOD facility worldwide, in partnership with the VA. The expansion will include adding 13 new video origination studios with terrestrial connectivity to the satellite hub located at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. DETN’s recently added capability to reach desktops DOD-wide through DOD’s HDTV Global Content Delivery Service (GCDS) will be discussed. DETN is also part of a wider community of ITV users known as the Government Education & Training Network (GETN). Other user agencies include DOJ, FAA and ANG. GETN provides shared programming and a total base of over 1,300 interoperable locations.

Skype for Business — Government Training Applications

Walter Nichols, Director Unified Communications, Microsoft Federal

This informative and eye-opening presentation will discuss all the new training tools contained within Skype for Business related to government training. Cyber security and information assurance for training content will be a focus. A brief demonstration will highlight ease of use, return on investment and best practices. Questions, answers and discussion will make this session well worth the time investment. Session suggested for technology users and technical staff.

U.S. Air Force Air Technology Network Virtual Tour, Presented by the FGDLA

This live, fully interactive HD video link will feature a virtual tour of the U.S. Air Force Air Technology Network (ATN) video origination studio located at the Air Force Institute of Technology, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. During this engaging and interactive tour, you will be able to view the essential and integrated video components that support the live delivery of distance learning programs originating from 13 remote video origination studios throughout the U.S. in support of the Veterans Health Administration and Department of Defense Medical Interagency Satellite Training (MIST) program.
